Hey! I’m Joy

I know a lot about pain and trauma of all kinds. I haven’t just studied it, I’ve been through it. And, against all odds, come out on the other side full of gratitude and joy.

Born with a rare facial deformity that resulted in 6 reconstructive surgeries, 2 decades of chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety… (the list goes on), and much later in life nearly dying (long story), I made it my mission to figure out how to transcend my pain and live a vibrant, healthy, happy life.

So I did. Sure, I felt like I was failing many times along the way. I tried a lot of things, and not all of them worked. But giving up never felt like an option, and I kept at it until I figured out how to put all the pieces of health and well-being together, and finally cracked the code. Since then, it’s been my passion and honour to help people like you do it too. However far or deep you want to go, I’m with you.

You’re looking for someone who gets you. Someone who’s unfazed by what you’ve got going on. Someone who’s safe. Who also believes in miracles. Well, you’ve found her.

I’m proud to have created a healing practice that offers you a bird’s eye view of what’s going on – bridging scientific understanding, energy work, psychological awareness, natural remedies, and spirituality.

My Philosophy

Most importantly, I believe that your body is wise, and is designed for healing.

My passion is to help you learn what your pain and disease are telling you about your emotional world, and the changes your spirit is asking you to make. Profound changes happen when you start to recognize how your inner and outer world are mirrors of each other.

I also believe that when you begin to heal, you’re doing more than just healing yourself – you’re creating a ripple effect that also brings healing into the lives of the people you love, and that love you. I’ve seen it happen in my life, and in the lives of the people I’ve worked with, pretty much every time.

Acupuncture, herbal medicine, and craniosacral therapy are highly effective at restoring balance because they work with your natural ability to heal, and their guiding principles work with the interconnections between your body, mind, and emotions.

My Education

I’m a registered Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, as well as a craniosacral therapist. I began to formally pursue my long-standing love for natural health and healing in 2001, enrolling in the acupuncture program at the Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine (ITCM) in Toronto. After graduating in 2004, I then studied Chinese herbal medicine until 2006. In 2010, I studied craniosacral therapy, and it has since become an integral part of my holistic practice.

I’ve also been sharing the wisdom I learned since 2013, as an instructor of acupuncture and herbal medicine, and as a supervisor for student acupuncture clinics. It’s an honor to pass on the wealth of information and insight given to me by my renowned teachers, Dr. David Lam and Dr. Ming Cha.

Lightworker, teacher, clairsentient, and tenacious optimist – dedicated to helping you become your healthiest, most authentic self.
